1. STATEMENT OF POLICY
JC ELECTRICS acknowledges that in society certain groups and individuals may
be unfairly discriminated against on the grounds of age, sex, disability,
religion, nationality or colour. The Company is committed to taking positive
action to help redress the effects of unfair discrimination and disadvantage
on order to ensure that equality of opportunity becomes an integral feature
of all its activities.
2. POLICY OBJECTIVES
The equal opportunities policy aims to eliminate unfair discrimination, and
take positive action to redress the effects of past discrimination, in relation
to:
Recruitment and selection procedures, and ensuring equality
of opportunity for all job applicants and prospective applicants;
The provision of training and development opportunities on an equitable basis
so that all employees are promoted and treated fairly on the basis of their
relevant merits and abilities:
The Company will provide the necessary training to enable management and staff
to understand and implement their responsibilities under the policy.
3. EQUAL OPPORTUNITIES AND CONTRACTS
Because of its own commitment to equal opportunities, the Company wishes to
encourage its contractors to demonstrate a similar commitment.
in particular it would like to see:
i. That contractors take steps to ensure that they recruit people to reflect
the ethnic mix of the communities in which they are working.
ii. That contractors abide by the statutory requirements of the Race Relations
Act 1976 and the Sex Discrimination Act 1975 and their respective codes of
practice.
iii. That contractors, where appropriate, seek advice from the appropriate
bodies such as the Council of Racial Equality, the Equal Opportunities Commission.
iv. That contractors adopt their own equal opportunity policies and procedures.
