Privacy Policy

Privacy & Security Policy

We’ll only collect, keep, use or share your information for genuine business purposes, when you’ve approved us to do so, or when we’re obliged to legally. Once we have your information, we’ll ensure we protect it with all of the appropriate safeguards, and in a way fully compliant with the Data Protection Act 1998.

There are a few different ways we may collect information from or about you.

1. When you enter personal information in the order process, whilst signing up for an account, for our newsletters, or when entering a competition.

2. When you give us permission to access information from other accounts, for example Facebook or other social media platforms. How much information we have access to will depend on how much you’ve added to those accounts, and your account or privacy settings with them.

3. When we collect information as you shop our site. When you shop on jcelectrics.com we use cookies (a small text file sent by your computer) to log information relating to the pages you viewed and what you clicked on. This helps us to remember your preferences and the type of device you used, and make your next visit more personal to you

Cookies

Cookies are small text files used to transfer information. Site functionality cookies allow you to navigate the site and use our features. When you return to the site we’ll be able to remember the products you’ve compared or added to your basket.

Analytics cookies help us to learn where we’re going wrong, and which elements of the site you find easier to use. We’ll track the volume of people on our site, where they click, and where they exit the site.

Payment details

We use SagePay to process our payments securely online, and therefore as a company we hold no records of your payment details. We will never collect sensitive information about you without your explicit consent, however additional information you may provide us with may be used to personalise your visits to our web site. You can check the information that we hold about you by emailing enquiries@jcelectrics.com . If you find any inaccuracies we will delete or correct it promptly.

Creating an Account

Creating an account with jcelectrics.com gives you the ability to check out more quickly by allowing us to remember your delivery address and payment information, so you don’t have to re-enter those details every time.

It’s important that you also take responsibility for protecting your account information. Make sure your password is strong, don’t share it with others, and try not to use the same one for lots of online accounts. Don’t send your password by email – we’ll never ask you to do so. We won’t ask you for your password information over the ‘phone; we’ll advise you on how to reset it.

It’s a good idea to reset online passwords occasionally, and you can do so through the My Account area. If you think anyone has accessed your account information without your approval, contact us to let us know.

Information We’ll Share

We won’t share your information except on the occasions where we’re obliged to do so (for example a legal request), or when we need to work with a third party or core service provider, for example a delivery service or finance provider. Each of those providers would be carefully selected, and we’d only pass on the information required for them to perform that service on our behalf.

We’ll never sell your information, and we won’t share it with advertisers or ad networks. We’ll always comply with the Data Protection Act 1998 and all other relevant legislation.

When We’ll Contact You

We like to be able to keep you up to date with news, offers and promotions, but you can opt out of receiving marketing communications from us at any time. To do this, click on the “unsubscribe” link on the bottom of any of our emails, or contact customer care. It may take a couple of days for all of our systems to update, so bear with us whilst we process your request.

When You Contact Us

If you get in touch by email to ask a question about your order or our services, we’ll keep a record of your emails and our responses. This helps us to resolve any problems, and to answer your query quickly and easily if you need to get in touch again. It also helps us to check our advisors have all the training they need to give you the best possible help. Your telephone calls to us may also be recorded for training purposes.
